7 Incremental interface
For dimensioning the downstream electronics it shall be ensured that it is

correctly dimensioned for the set edge distance or counting frequency!
It should be noted that pulses with the widths of the set edge distance
NOTICE
may occur with sensor idleness (due to the internal interpolation proce-
dure).
In parallel with the SIKONETZ3-interface, the LD version outputs speed-
proportional incremental signals which have the differential form in
accordance with RS422.
The incremental signals shall be terminated by means of terminating
resistors with 120 ... 150 ohm (see
Signal sequence
With an interpolation rate of 1000, the period of output signal corres-
ponds to -> 20 μm with an interpolation rate of 1000 (interpolation rate =
5000 -> 4 μm; interpolation rate = 500 -> 40 μm).
With the sensor being moved in the cable outlet direction, signal B will be
lagging in relation to signal A (A before B).

8 Diagnostic functions

With the error case "sensor-tape gap exceeded" occurring, the RS422
NOTICE
driver's output will be switched high-impedance (signals A, /A, B, /B)
(only with LD version)!
Various diagnostic functions have been integrated into MSA501.
A two-color LED signals the actual error states. The states are differenti-
ated via the LED's color and flashing rates. The signal is repeated after a
600 ms pause.
