MSA501-S(RS485)
Start-up
4 Start-up
Following proper mounting and wiring of the measurement system consis-
ting of MSA501 sensor and MBA501 magnetic tape, the system can be put
into operation by applying the operating voltage.
When supply voltage is switched on and with the Config input set to
"+UB", the sensor will initialize for approx. 220 msec. (red LED). After-
wards, the sensor is ready for use (green LED) and is in the SIKONETZ3 ope-
rating mode.
When the sensor is switched on and with the Config input set to "GND",
the sensor will be in the boot loader mode (red and green LED are lit at the
same time). There must be no traffic on the data interface (D+, D-) during
this time! Upon expiry of the 10 s waiting time, the sensor will be in the
Service mode (green LED). For additional LED display modes please refer
to chapter 8.
4.1 Address setting
In the delivery state, MSA501-SN3 is set to address 1. This address can
only be changed within the service mode (see chapter
9.2).
4.2 Calibration of the measurement system
The calibration value is factory-set to "0"; therefore, the position value
NOTICE
"0" will appear as standard. The calibration value can be changed in the
SIKONETZ3 mode via the 28h (KWU) command as well as in the Service
mode (see chapter 9.2) and will be stored non-volatilely.
MSA501 is an absolute measurement system; i. e. the information of the
position value is embodied in the scale (MBA501 magnetic tape) as an
absolute value. After successful sensor mounting, the calibration point
can be freely defined at any position.
MSA501 is calibrated in the SIKONETZ3 mode via the 48h (NULS) com-
mand; but calibration is also possible in the Service mode.
From now on, the value "Position value = 0 + calibration value" will be
output at the current sensor position. With calibration, the current posi-
tion value will be replaced by the set calibration value and stored non-
volatilely.
