8. Charging the vehicle battery
Refer to sections 6 and 7.
Only power the vehicle using the li-ion battery provided or an identical replacement battery. Never insert
another type of battery or disposable batteries into the vehicle.
The vehicle battery is empty when the product is shipped and must be charged. Several full charge/dis-
charge cycles are required before the battery reaches its maximum capacity.
Only charge the li-ion vehicle battery using the charger provided. Never use another charger, as this may
cause the battery to catch fire or explode.
Only power the charger using the mains adapter provided.
Before charging the vehicle battery, disconnect if and remove it from the vehicle.
The li-ion battery can be charged when it is partly discharged. It does not need to be discharged in ad-
vance.
The vehicle battery will heat up when it is charging/discharging (i.e. when you drive the vehicle). Wait until
the battery has cooled down to room temperature before charging it. The same applies after the battery has
finished charging. Do not use the battery until it has cooled down.
• Connect the power-in plug on the mains adapter to the corresponding socket on the charger.
• Plug the mains adapter into a standard mains socket connected to the public grid (wall-mounted mains socket). The
power LED on the charger should turn on.
• If you have not already done so, disconnect the battery from the vehicle. The battery must be fully disconnected
and removed from the vehicle.
• Connect the 3-pin plug on the battery to the corresponding socket on the charger. Ensure that the plug is inserted
in the correct position (it can only be inserted in one orientation). Do not attempt to force the plug into the socket.
• The battery will start to charge and the charging LED will turn on.
• The charging LED turns off when the battery is fully charged. Depending on the remaining battery level, the battery
will take up to two hours to charge.
• Disconnect the battery from the charger when it is fully charged.
• Unplug the power adapter from the mains socket when you have finished using the charger.
• Keep the vehicle battery in a suitable location out of the reach of children when it is not in use. Protect the battery
contacts against a short circuit to prevent the risk of a fire or explosion. In addition, protect the battery contacts
against mechanical damage, and do not expose them to high temperatures (e.g. in close proximity to a heater or
in direct sunlight).
