Switch the instrument on, keeping in mind the hints given in the section
Power Supply, ON/OFF on page 10.
Prior to the first measurement wait for about 15 minutes to let the
instrument warm up while the HPLC pump is also switched on (with
flow). In case of especially sensitive measurements prolonging this
warming up period may be necessary.
The light source (LED) starts automatically whenever the detector is
switched on and it is immediately ready for operation. Due to the
extremely long lifetime it is not possible (and not necessary) to switch off
the light source (only if the detector is switched off via the main switch or
the standby key).
Set the appropriate time constant in the main menu.
In principle, now your RI detector is ready to take simple chromatograms.
The signal is put out for example at the analog output (1V) on the
detector's rear panel.
Output options: The output of the absorption signals can be configured.
Move the cursor to the signal field. Choose between different options by
pressing the ▲ or ▼ any key. Options are:
1) Normal signal (normal presentation)
2) Signal inversion (indicated by a small superimposed minus sign).

controlled by one of the KNAUER software packages EuroChrom
Windows or ChromGate
