Selecting Time Constant

SIGNAL Menu
Using the time constant t you can achieve a signal smoothing. It's value
can be set to 0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1, 2, 5 or 10 seconds. The larger this value is
set to, the more the signal will be smoothed. A time constant of 1 s fits
most analytical purposes.
If the instrument is controlled by chromatography software, a time
constant of 0.1 s is suggested.
You can rinse the reference cell by placing the cursor on Flush using the
► or ◄ key, and then activating this function with the ▲ or ▼ key. The
duration of flushing can be set in the FLUSH menu by selecting item
time. The standard setting is 30 sec. Flushing can be manually finished
by pressing any key. An activated flushing process is indicated by the
disappearance of the cursor in the display.
During flushing, sample and reference cell are switched in series such
that both cells are rinsed with solvent.
While flushing the reference cell the flow rate should not exceed
3 ml/min for Smartline 2300 or 20 ml/min for Smartline 2400.
Otherwise the flush solenoid valve and/or the reference cell may be
destroyed.
Effective for all outputs, the sign of the signal value can be inverted when
the cursor is placed on the signal field using the ► or ◄ key. Press the
▲ or ▼ key and change the signal sign. Signal inversion is shown by a
small superscript minus.

Flush
For the Smartline RI Detector 2400 (preparative detector) activated
signal inversion is the default setting. This is necessary due to a
hardware dependent difference in the detector's signal generation.

In this menu page the measured intensity values I
separately. Please note that the sum cannot be calculated directly from
the indicated data, since these single intensities still contain an offset.
A continuously low intensity value can indicate an air bubble or a
contamination in the cell. The cells can be rinsed using the function
Flush.
The value 1/16 below INTENSITY shows the set integration time.
