Switching on the Detector

Pressing briefly in the main menu will activate the "AUTOZERO
●
function", which sets the measurement signal and the integrator
output to zero. This is performed by an appropriate selection of a new
constant factor a according to Formula 2 on page 7.
Extended pressing (> 3 s) in the main menu will activate a
●
repositioning of the zeroplate ( on page 6). During this operation the
message zeroplate moving is indicated.
Repositioning of the zeroplate will also be performed after pressing
●
the AUTOZERO key or when the instrument is switched on if the
difference between I
In all other menus pressing the AUTOZERO key will result in an
immediate return to the main menu.
The arrow keys in light green are used for moving the cursor on the
display and to confirm settings.
Use the arrow keys ► "right" or ◄ "left" to move from one menu
parameter to the other as well as to confirm entered or selected values.
Use the arrow keys ▲ "up" or ▼ "down" to change the selected
parameter or its available options.
Pressing the standby key for more than two seconds switches the
instrument off (only the standby electronics will still be working). In
standby mode the red LED integrated into the standby key is on. To
switch the instrument on again, the standby key has to be pressed for
more than one second. Then the instrument powers up again and the red
LED is off.
Connect the detector to the power supply cable and switch on the instru-
ment. The power switch is on the rear panel. After switching ON, the
display presents briefly information concerning the instrument and the
firmware version:

Whenever powering up, the instrument includes a check of the integrator
output, an automatic offset correction, an automatic repositioning of the
zeroplate and an autozero.
After successfully completing the initial checks the detector is ready for
use. In the display the main menu is shown:

After a period of about 10 minutes for additional stabilization, the RI
detector is ready to acquire data and the baseline will be stabilized.
