MEASURING
4.1
PREPARATION
4.1.1 Configuration
Check configuration settings: Refer to chapter „Software PinchPilot/ PinchPilot settings/
Sensor/ Configuration".
4.1.2 Measuring with display unit and sensor
Display unit and sensor are required to perform measurements.
Both have to be connected. Before measuring it is recommended to check battery's state
(refer chapter "Display Unit/ Battery").
4.1.3 List of measurements
To allow the identification of measurements, prepare a list containing all measuring points.
During measuring the measurement no. should be entered into the list of measurements.
4.2
TURN ON DISPLAY UNIT, SET LIMIT
Press the operating button to turn on display unit.
It is a good idea to set the applicable force limit in the display unit depending on the guideline
and the properties of the point to be measured. Without a valid limit, the evaluation of the
display unit makes no sense. It is possible, to change the limit during the PinchPilot
evaluation, but it saves time to do it before the measurement.
The setting of the limit is performed during the turn on phase of the display unit (refer to
chapter "Display Unit/ Basic Settings/ Peak force limit").
The display unit is now in the ready state; the yellow LED flashes slowly.
4.3
MEASURING PROCESS
First put sensor in measuring position. For details please see chapter "Pinch Force Sensor/
Measuring position".
Activate force measuring by briefly pressing the operating button. The display unit will tare
the force, i.e. the actual force is set to zero. Thus, all tare weights are compensated. The
state LED blinks rapidly.
The measurement starts as soon as the force trigger value is exceeded. The duration may
vary. In any case, the end of the measurement is reached when the measurement time has
expired.
