Teppanyaki plate
Congratulations on your purchase! You have chosen
a quality product from WMF. High-quality materials,
excellent workmanship and meticulous quality con-
trols ensure a very long service life. The sophisticat-
ed design and well thought-out functionality make
the products extremely practical.
Teppanyaki came to Japan through Spanish seafar-
ers, who heated iron plates to prepare their dishes.
Once in Japan, the art of teppanyaki was perfected
over the centuries. The plate is suitable for use in
the oven and on the hob, but it can also be used
on the grill thanks to the extremely heat-resistant
Fusiontec material. It can also be used directly at the
table with the aid of a sufficiently large hotplate.
Fusiontec from WMF combines the speed of copper,
the heat-retention capacity of cast iron, the scratch
resistance of glass, the corrosion resistance of
stainless steel and the even frying results of alumini-
um – all in one unique material. The result: rapid
heating, excellent heat distribution and retention
for energy-saving cooking and flawless frying and
cooking results. The extremely hard surface has a
robust finish and is scratch and abrasion resistant,
exceptionally durable and dishwasher-safe – and all

of this with stylish aesthetics and beauty that will
last for many years.

fully before using this product for the first time.
Steps before using for the first time
• Remove all stickers before using for the first
time.
• Cover the base of the teppanyaki plate with
water, add 1-2 tablespoons of vinegar and then
bring to the boil.
• Once cool, rinse the teppanyaki plate thoroughly
by hand and carefully dry.
Instructions for safe use
• Please note that Fusiontec is an excellent con-
ductor of heat and that the surfaces, but also
the handles, can become very hot after a short
time when used on the hob or grill. For safety
reasons, always use the handles to carry the
teppanyaki plate, and be careful not to touch
anybody else with the plate. Always use suitable,
heat-resistant oven gloves to avoid injury.
• Never heat an empty teppanyaki plate, and
ensure that the liquid from cooked food never
completely evaporates. Failure to do so can re-
sult in the food being burned, or cause damage
to the teppanyaki plate or heat source.
• Do not leave a hot teppanyaki plate unattended.
• Only ever place the hot teppanyaki plate on
heat-resistant surfaces.
• Never extinguish burning fat with water. If possi-
ble, use a fire extinguisher to extinguish the flames
or cover with a wet tablecloth in an emergency.
Other notes and tips for use
• Do not touch the surface of the hob immediately
after frying. This also applies to induction hobs.
• If the handle on your teppanyaki plate comes
loose, please contact your WMF dealer. Do not
use the teppanyaki plate until the handle has
been re-tightened.
• Do not knock spoons or other kitchen utensils
against the rim of the teppanyaki plate.
Cleaning and care instructions
• After use, rinse with hot water as soon as
possible.
• Should food burn and stick despite taking the
proper precautions, remove blackened residues
immediately. To do so, add a little boiling water
and cleaning product to the teppanyaki plate,
allow any stubborn food residues to soften and
then gently remove them with a soft sponge or
brush.
• Please do not use steel wool or abrasive scour-
ing agents.
• The teppanyaki plate is dishwasher-safe. How-
ever, this may lead to discolouration of the sur-
face, although this does not impair the function.
We therefore recommend cleaning by hand.
• Dry the teppanyaki plate thoroughly before
storing it.
Preparation instructions
• Only use the maximum heating level for brown-
ing. Then turn the heat back down to a medium
or low setting.
