Event Partition
An event partition can be configured to protect events for longer than using
just the normal recording partition. When an event partition is configured, all
events will be saved to this area. The events are overwritten on a first in first
out basis when the partition is full. To work out the required event partition
size, use the following equation:
Event partition (GB) =
Days x Image size (KB) x % Events x Event PPS
Days = number of days required before the events are overwritten.
Image size (KB) = the recorded image size in kilobytes.
% Events = the precentage of recordings which are events.
Events PPS = the record rate of event recording (PPS).

For example, if you want to keep events for 5 days before they are overwritten,
image size is 18 KB, alarms are triggered for 25% of the time and the Event
PPS is 6 pictures per second, the equation would be:
Event partition (GB) = 5 x 18 x 25 x 6 = 12GB
CAUTION: Specifying an event partition will reduce the disk space for normal
recording, reducing the recording time on disk.
Event Copy Destination
This option is for backwards compatibility where external Jaz and ZIP devices
are used for storing off line images. When these devices are not present then
this option will be read only and will display the warning 'No devices available'.
Automatic Event Copy
Although this option can be configured it is for backwards compatibility only
where external Jaz or ZIP drives are in use. Changing the settings will have no
affect as there is no event copy destination available.
Timed Expiry
Images recorded onto disk can be programmed to expire after a user-defined
number of days and hours. This option is useful if you are required to adhere to
legislation on maximum recording time, for example, 31 days.
Image Storage
If a RAID or other disk storage device is attached to the D4, it is possible to
select which drives are to be recorded to. The internal drives in the D4 are
drive letters C and D. An external SCSI drive will be either drive L, M, N, O, P,
or Q depending on the devices SCSI address, L being SCSI ID0 (zero). For
example, if image storage is only required on the RAID then disable the
storage on drives C and D. Use the cursor keys to select the drive letter and
the up and down cursor to enable or disable the drive. You will be prompted to
confirm the changes when the menu button is pressed to exit the menu.
