11.2.2 Conversion to genome equivalents/ml

For quantitative evaluation of the RIDA
GENE CMV real-time PCR, the DNA content
of the parameter is identified in genome equivalents/reaction. A factor is used to
convert the specimen to genome equivalents/ml, as specified in Table 9. The
conversion takes into account the dilutions of the DNA extraction (depending on the
device used) and the PCR approach.

Formula for quantifying EDTA plasma specimens
Nc (gEq/ml) = 12.5 x quantity
Nc = CMV concentration in gEq/ml of the specimen used in the extraction
gEq = Genome equivalent
Quantity = CMV gEq per reaction, cycler indication
11.2.3 Conversion to international units (IU)
To convert a quantitative result from gEq/ml to international units/ml, use the
following conversion factor. It takes into account the dilutions of the DNA extraction
(depending on the extraction device used), the PCR preparation, and the traceability
to the WHO standard.
