f) Basic information on controlling quadrocopters

Before you fly your model, you should familiarise yourself with the control possibilities in order to operate it safely.
The quadrocopter is controlled via the two joysticks on the remote control transmitter. The following functions are
available:
Pitch function
With the pitch function you can control the flight altitude of the quadrocopter (see Figure 13). Use the left joystick for
steering (see also Figure 9, no. 5). The joystick can be moved forward and backward without springing back into the
centre position, unlike with the other control functions.
The speeds of the four propellers change depending on the joystick position. Pulling the joystick all the way towards
you switches off the motors.
If you push the control stick forward from the bottom-most position, the propellers turn on and increase the speed ac-
cording to the position of the stick. If the joystick is about one-third of the possible control travel, the propeller speeds
should be high enough for the quadrocopter to hover. If the joystick is moved further forwards, the quadrocopter will
ascend. If the joystick is pulled back, the quadrocopter will descend (see arrows in Figure 8).
