Trouble-shooting

Causes
The overcurrent circuit breaker has tripped the
unit (for E).
The temperature switch monitoring the winding
temperature has tripped the unit (for D).
Motor is not running because of lack of voltage.
Motor is running on two phases only.
Motor is not running because the level control de-
vice is defective/has jammed.
Motor is not running because the winding or elec-
tric cable are defective.
Operating voltage is too low.
Reverse rotation.
Pump is running in the off-design operating range
(low flow/overload).
Wear of internal pump parts.
Pump delivers against an excessively high dis-
charge pressure.
Pump clogged by sand, dirt in the pump sump,
insufficient inflow.
Pump is warped or sympathetic vibrations in piping. Check pipeline connections and secure fixing of pump;
Dirt/fibres in the clearance between the casing
wall and impeller; sluggish rotor.
Defective riser pipe (pipe, seal elements,
non-return valve if fitted).
Rotor is out of balance; shaft is warped.
Excessive temperature of the fluid pumped.
Cavitation (crackling noise).
Defective radial bearing in the motor.
Impermissible air or gas content in the fluid pumped.
Aggressive medium.
Abrasive medium.
Caution:
Before opening the pump unit within the warranty period please always consult the manufacturer. Disregard of this warning will
lead to forfeiture of any and all rights to claims for damages.
Remedy
The pump pressure must be released before at-
tempting to remedy faults on parts which are sub-
jected to pressure.
Disconnect the pump from the power supply.
Press reset button on the terminal box.
The motor will restart automatically once the unit has
cooled down.
Check the electric equipment.
Notify the energy supply company.
Replace the defective fuse.
Check the electric cable connections.
Check the level control device; if required, contact
KSB's pump service.
Contact KSB's pump service.
Check the mains voltage.
Check the electric cable connections.
Interchange two of the phases of the power supply
cable.
Check the pump's operating data.
Replace worn components by new ones.
Fully open shut-off valve.
Clean the intake, sand trap, screen at the volute casing,
pump components and swing check or non-return
valve. Drain and clean the pump sump.
Replace worn components by new ones.
if required, reduce the distances between the pipe
clamps.
Fix the pipelines using anti-vibration material.
Check whether the impeller can be easily rotated; clean
the hydraulic system, if required.
Fit new piping elements.
Clean impeller.
Install a new shaft.
Reduce temperature.
Check steam trap.
Increase positive suction head.
Reduce condensate temperature.
Increase back pressure by throttling.
Contact KSB's pump service.
Consult KSB.
