Venous Blood Sample
Venous samples must have been collected into EDTA tubes.
Venous samples can be stored refrigerated at 2 °C to 8 °C
(36 °F to 46 °F) for up to 10 days before use and can be used without
equilibration to room temperature.
Thoroughly mix the sample by inverting the tube 8 to 10 times before
collecting a sample.
Place a droplet of blood, approximately 10 μl to 20 μl, onto a non-
metallic and non-absorbent surface such as Parafilm
®
M

Do not attempt to sample directly from the tube.
Fill the Blood Collector, avoiding air bubbles and excess sample on
the outside of the tip of the Blood Collector. Do not wipe excess
blood from the collector.
Place the Blood Collector into the Test Cartridge and the Test
Cartridge into the Quo-Test Analyzer within 1 minute.
Operate the Quo-Test Analyzer System according to the User
Manual.
Expected Values
Interpret test results with careful consideration to the patient's age,
ethnicity, medical history, clinical examinations and other laboratory
results, see limitations of use.
Users should refer to national guidance regarding patient reference
ranges, an example is as follows

The ADA recommends an HbA1c range of 4 to 5.7 % DCCT (20 to
39 mmol/mol IFCC) for non-diabetic patients.
Patients with values in the range of 5.7 to 6.0 % DCCT (39 to
42 mmol/mol IFCC) are considered to be at risk of developing
diabetes and those in the range of 6.0 to 6.5 % DCCT (42 to 48
mmol/mol IFCC) are considered to be at high risk of developing
diabetes.
The ADA recommends a goal of < 7 % DCCT (53 mmol/mol IFCC)
for effective management of diabetes and to minimize long term
complications.
