This section describes how to commission the telephone in a stepwise procedure. After a
successful initial commissioning, you will be able to make internal calls. You can customise
your telephone using the computer configuration described at the end of this section.
Commissioning the Telephone
Note: If you would like to integrate the telephone into an existing network,
please contact the system administrator responsible for this. Making
changes to an existing network may cause considerable malfunctions.
Requirements

The patch cable delivered with the telephone
Note: If you require a longer or shorter patch cable, use one without snap
tab protection, because you may not be able to insert it far enough other-
wise.

For operation of a COMfortel 3600 IP with Power over Ethernet (PoE):
Bridge plug which is inserted into the jack labelled with
side of the telephone

For operation of a COMfortel 3600 IP with power supply plug(s): power sup-
ply plug(s) connected to the telephone
–
For operation of a COMfortel 2600 IP without PoE support: An additional
patch cable and an PoE Injector as adapter between the 230 V network
mains outlet and the Ethernet cable
–
For the operation as system telephone: PBX according to the proper use
(see Important Information > Proper Use)

Internal telephone number entered in the configuration with the correspond-
ing password for the telephone

For the automated configuration from a provisioning server: provisioning file
which is stored on the provisioning server and is known on the DHCP server

Insert a plug of the patch cable into the outgoing socket on the DSL router/
switch or into an existing network mains outlet.
