oPeRatinG mode
After START is pressed, the Operating mode is initiated. Before any significant RF
power is applied between the output receptacles, the initial system impedance [Z(0)] is
measured. If the initial impedance is between 15Ω and 400Ω, TIME starts incrementing
from "00:00" and the POWER window will display the value of power selected. The
maximum settable value for power is 200W. When power is being delivered, the
ACTIVE light and "RF On" tone are on. The IMPEDANCE window gives an indication
of both the currently measured system impedance and the impedance relative to Z(0).
A greater number of elements illuminated indicates a higher value of impedance.
StandBy mode
In this mode, the final value of power and impedance, and the elapsed ablation
time will be displayed. Settings cannot be changed in this mode and RF power,
the ACTIVE light, and the "RF On" tone are all off.
Pressing the RESET button will clear the IMPEDANCE and POWER windows and
initiate the Ready mode. Alternatively, pressing the START button will return the unit
directly from the Standby mode to the Operating mode. In this case, ablation time
will be the previously selected value, or 15:00 minutes if the default is used.
Fault mode
The Fault mode can be entered from any of the above modes. A series of rapid
beeps indicates a fault, with the specific error code (tabulated below) displayed in the
POWER window. "Recoverable" faults require only that the RESET button be pressed
to clear the error code and return to Ready mode. For the "Unrecoverable" faults,
sometimes cycling the mains power switch on the rear of the unit will bring about
recovery. When this does not work, a more serious malfunction may be the cause.
Boston Scientific should be contacted for assistance in further diagnosing the difficulty.
Shut down
The RF3000™ Generator is switched off by setting the mains power switch, located
on the rear of the unit on the power entry module, to the "O" position
