Installation
6.1
Installation of the motor spindle
The SycoTec motor spindle may only be installed by qualified personnel. The locally applicable health and safety and accident
prevention regulations as well as internal company regulations must be observed and complied with during all work. Suitable tools
must be used for installation.
CAUTION
• Never operate the motor spindle without the protective devices of the machine in which it is installed.
• Stop machine before installing the motor spindle and secure it against restarting. Secure suspended axes to prevent
sinking or changes in position.
• Connect unpressurized compressed-air lines only. Before switching on/releasing the compressed-air supply, make sure
that no one can be endangered due to unexpected movements or ejected parts.
• The motor spindle must not be put into operation when not installed.
• Operation is possible in any position from horizontal to vertical.
• For horizontal working position, the radial venting and leakage holes on the spindle must be directed downwards.
• The motor spindle must be placed in a suitable holder (see chapter
seen in the spindle sketch.
• The motor spindle must be grounded (check grounding via connecting cable).
Please install the spindle in following steps:
1
Clamp and tighten the motor spindle to the machine axis (mount in spindle holder).
2
The motor cable and, if applicable, the electric tool change connecting cable must be plugged into the connections
provided and locked.
3
The pneumatic connections must be connected with appropriate hoses, if applicable.
4
Activate tool change mechanism, unscrew transport dummy, screw in collet chuck, insert tool or dowel pin in collet chuck
and deactivate tool change mechanism.

Mounting of the motor spindle
6.2.1
Clamping bracket
SycoTec recommends the use of the water-cooled clamping bracket 4825/33 (see chapter
screws on clamping bracket 4825/33 is 1.5 Nm.
If it is necessary to design clamping bracket by yourself, please note the following points:
•
Use a material with good heat conductivity (e.g. aluminum).
•
If possible, clamp spindle over the entire clamping range.
•
To ensure equal tensions in spindle housing your clamping bracket must be slotted over the entire length.
•
The clamping surface of the clamping bracket must have a cylindricity < 0.01 mm.
•
Existing radial venting and leakage bores must not be closed by the clamping bracket.
•
Avoid excessive clamping force (affects the motor spindle's runout and lifetime).
ATTENTION
Contact your SycoTec contact person before or after design of the clamping bracket to check the design and specify the
tightening torque of the spindle clamp.
