Tool change systems
5.6.1
Pneumatic tool change
Tool change is activated pneumatically. By applying the appropriate compressed air, a spring assembly inside the motor spindle is
actuated and the collet chuck is released, allowing the tool to be removed. When the pneumatic system is vented, the collet chuck
is retracted by the spring assembly and the tool is clamped. The pneumatic system automatically resets itself when the air is
released; no separate control or connection is required to clamp the tool.
Pneumatic tool change is available in different pressure ranges. Required pressure value can be found in specific datasheet and is
labeled on the type plate of each motor spindle.

Taper cleaning
Taper cleaning protects the area of the shaft taper and collet chuck from the ingress of foreign particles during tool changes. Taper
cleaning is automatically activated by a corresponding valve each time the tool is changed. No separate control or connection is
required. Customized values for taper cleaning flow rate is possible – please check individual data sheet of your motor spindle.
The motor type used in each case can be found in specific data sheet and is labeled on the type plate of each motor spindle.
5.6.2
Electrical tool change without touch probe (TP)
Electrical tool change is available
both variants. Please check specific datasheet of your motor spindle to doublecheck if your product is equipped with
touch probe functionality (TP) or not.
The tool change is performed electrically. The changing system requires a 24 V DC & 2 A power supply.
Communication is done via digital signals. When the power supply is connected, the changing system is automatically adjusted and
positioned.
By applying a +3.4...+24 V voltage to the digital input In_1 (pin 3), the collet chuck is opened and the tool can be changed.
By removing the voltage at the digital input, the collet chuck closes and the tool is clamped.
