4.3 "Bypass valve" setting
The retrofitting of a "bypass valve" (see ) on the hydraulic rotary head is necessary in order to direct
part of the oil flow back into the return flow of the carrier device for carrier devices (excavators) with
hydraulic oil volume flows > 40 l/min.
The optimum setting must be determined while the laying tongs are in operation.
ATTENTION:
If the displacement force of the side tension is too low, the bypass valve is most likely too wide open! In
this case, the bypass valve must be closed slightly (to reduce the hydraulic oil volume flow to the laying
clamp).
For carrier devices with hydraulic oil volume flows ≤ 40 l/min, the bypass valve remains
completely closed!
