Use of soft/smooth socket lining material will prolong the device sealing
function.
A one-way valve with a release function such as Icelock 500 or 544 series
is essential for the proper function of seal suspension. The socket valve
must be positioned as distally as possible, at least below the seal.
The device is Unity compatible.
Socket Fitting
Achieving the intended function of the device is dependent on the fit of
the socket. Appropriate socket design is essential to achieve suspension,
control, and comfort.
The following checklist should be used when checking the socket fit:
• Full contact between the seal lips and the socket inner wall.
• No air pockets develop when the patient loads the prosthesis.
• No pistoning in the socket
• No visible movement when pulling on the prosthesis.
• Full movement possible without compromising the suspension.
Caution: If feedback indicates any of the above conditions are not met,
the socket will need to be adjusted or remade accordingly.
USAGE
Donning
Note: Do not apply lotion to the residual limb immediately before
donning the device. The residual limb should be clean and dry to prevent
device damage.
Caution: Open wounds or damaged skin should be covered with
a bandage or other appropriate covering to prevent direct contact
between the wound and device.
Caution: Ensure the inside of the device is clean, dry, and free from any
foreign objects that may cause skin irritation.
Liner Donning
1. Grip the top of the device from the inside and slide it over the hand
until the inner surface is fully exposed (Fig. 3). Take care not to
damage the device with fingernails.
2. After exposing as much of the distal end of the device as possible,
position it against the distal end of the residual limb (Fig. 4).
3. With light compression, roll the device all the way upwards onto the
limb (Fig. 5).
Caution: Do not tug or pull the upper end of the liner when rolling the
device upwards onto the limb. This can result in tension on the skin,
causing blisters or rashes.
4. Check that no air pockets are present. If air pockets are found, reapply
the device.
5. Ensure the seal sits correctly and horizontally around its full
circumference (Fig. 6).
Socket Donning
1. Lightly spray the seal around its full circumference and inside the
socket with Iceross
smooth entry (Fig. 7).
Warning: Do not apply the lubricant spray to the skin. Avoid contact
with eyes.
2. Align the prosthesis and push into the socket expelling air (Fig. 8).
