3 General Instructions on Equipment and Product
Damage
Disconnecting connections while under voltage will destroy the electronic
components of the valve system!
Large differences in potential occur when disconnecting connections under
voltage, which can destroy the valve system.
Make sure the relevant system component is not under voltage before as-
u
sembling the valve system or when connecting and disconnecting it electri-
cally.
An address change will not be effective during operation!
The bus coupler will continue to work with the previous address.
1. Never change the address during operation.
2. Disconnect the bus coupler from the power supply UL before changing the
positions of switches S1 and S2.
Malfunctions in the fieldbus communication due to incorrect or insufficient
grounding!
Connected components receive incorrect or no signals. Make sure that the
ground connections of all valve system components are electrically connected
to each other and grounded.
Verify proper contact between the valve system and ground.
u
Malfunctions in the fieldbus communication due improperly laid communi-
cation lines!
Connected components receive incorrect or no signals.
Lay the communication lines within buildings. If you lay the communication
u
lines outside of buildings, the lines laid outside must not exceed 42 m.
The valve system contains electronic components that are sensitive to elec-
trostatic discharge (ESD)!
If the electrical components are touched by persons or objects, this may lead
to an electrostatic discharge that could damage or destroy the components of
the valve system.
1. Ground the components to prevent electrostatic charging of the valve sys-
tem.
2. Use wrist and shoe grounding straps, if necessary, when working on the
valve system.

4 About This Product

4.1 Bus coupler

The AES series bus coupler for PROFINET IO establishes communication between
the superior controller and connected valves and I/O modules. It is designed for
use as a slave only on a

PROFINET IO bus system in accordance with IEC 61158. Therefore, the bus cou-
pler must be configured. The CD R412018133, included on delivery, contains a
GSDML file for the configuration, see section g 5.2. Loading device master data.
During cyclical data transfer, the bus coupler can send 512 bits of input data to
the controller and receive 512 bits of output data from the controller. To com-
municate with the valves, an electronic interface for the valve driver connection is
located on the right side of the bus coupler. The left side of the device contains
an electronic interface which establishes communication with the I/O modules.
The two interfaces function independently.
The bus coupler can actuate a maximum of 64 single or double solenoid valves
(128 solenoid coils) and up to 10 I/O modules. It supports 100 Mbit full duplex
data communication, as well as a minimum update interval of 2 ms.
All electrical connections are located on the front side, and all status displays on
the top. The bus coupler fulfills the requirements in Conformance Class A (CC-A).
