11. Practical tips for the first use

Before using your model boat for the first time, use a battery tester to check the residual capacity of the remote control
batteries and fully charge the drive battery.
a) Range test
Test the transmitter range before putting the boat on the water surface. First start the transmitter and then the model.
Now check the range of your remote control with the help of an assistant. To do this, ask the assistant to hold the
ready-to-use model boat securely in their hand as you move away from it with the transmitter. The model boat should
respond to the transmitter without interference from a distance of at least 100 metres.
b) Important information about operation
The control electronics only enable the forward travel of the model. When performing your steering manoeuvres, bear
in mind that you do not have a reverse gear like in a model car.
You may only operate the model boat with the canopy in place and locked (with the three locking knobs set to "LOCK").
Failure to do so could cause damage to the remote control and drive components due to water splash.
For safety reasons, the model's control electronics have no integrated undervoltage detection for the drive battery.
If the rechargeable battery were to switch off in the event of a deep discharge, you would not be able to control the
model and retrieve it from the water. You should therefore discontinue operation of the model boat in good time (after
10 to 12 minutes of operation at the latest) to reach the bank with the motor power and to avoid deep discharge of
the drive battery.
Do not use the model in adverse conditions such as strong winds or waves, otherwise you may not be able to retrieve
it from the water.
Carefully put the model in the water in a horizontal position. Make sure the propellers do not hit the bottom and can
turn freely.
The battery life is approx.10 to 12 minutes depending on your steering style. Discontinue use and bring the boat back
to the bank before the battery runs out.
If you notice any unusual noises or a sudden loss in speed or power, discontinue use immediately and establish the
cause of the problem.
In most cases, the propellers and/or drive shafts get fouled e.g. with seaweed, which can reduce propulsion or even
bring the model boat to a halt. Do not attempt to further operate the propellers, as this may destroy the drive com-
ponents.
It is normal for some splash water to get inside the boat, which must be removed immediately after each use. Make
sure that the water does not get into the remote control and drive parts during water removal.
The motors and control electronics must be left to cool down to the ambient temperature after use. You should there-
fore wait approx. 5 to 10 minutes before resuming operation or changing the rechargeable battery. Leave the canopy
detached to allow the components to cool down more quickly.
