11. Practical tips for the first use

Before using your model boat for the first time, use e.g. a battery tester to check the residual capacity of the remote
control batteries and fully charge the drive battery.
a) Range test
Test the transmitter range before putting the model boat on the water surface. To do this, switch on the transmitter
and then put the model boat into operation. Now check the range of your remote control with the help of an assistant.
To do this, ask the assistant to hold the ready-to-use model boat securely in their hand as you move away from it
with the transmitter. The model boat should respond to the transmitter without interference from a distance of at least
100 metres (unobstructed transmission range extends up to 200 metres).
b) Undervoltage detection
The model boat's speed controller has undervoltage detection for LiPo rechargeable battery use in order to protect it
from harmful deep discharge. If the speed controller detects a battery voltage below 9.6 V (3.2 V per cell), it will switch
off the motor. The model boat will then float on the water without propulsion.
Release the throttle trigger switch on the transmitter so that it is in the middle (neutral) position and wait at least
30 seconds. Once the battery voltage increases again a little, you can drive the model boat slowly to the bank (the
speed controller reduces the output power to 30%).
c) Important information about operation
The control electronics only enable the forward travel of the model. When performing your steering manoeuvres, bear
in mind that you do not have a reverse gear like in a model car.
Operation is only permitted with the canopy in place and locked. Failure to do so could cause damage to the remote
control and drive components due to water splash. Operation is not permitted in adverse weather conditions such as
strong winds or waves, as this can lead to the loss of the model boat.
Carefully place the model into the water in a horizontal position. Make sure the propeller does not hit the bottom and
can turn freely.
The battery life is about 8 minutes depending on the steering style and speed. Discontinue use and bring the boat
back to the bank before the battery runs out.
If you notice any unusual noises or a sudden loss in speed or power, discontinue use immediately and establish the
cause of the problem. In most cases, the propeller gets fouled e.g. with seaweed, which can reduce propulsion or
even bring the model boat to a halt. Do not attempt to operate the propeller, as this may destroy the components
inside the model.
It is normal for some splash water to get inside the boat, which must be removed immediately after each use. Make
sure that the water does not get into the remote control and drive parts while being removed (see section 10. j).
After use, let the motor and control electronics cool down to the ambient temperature. You should therefore wait ap-
prox. 5 to 10 minutes before resuming operation or changing the rechargeable battery. Leave the canopy detached to
allow the components to cool down more quickly.
