Storing conditions
The following conditions are required:
• Dry storing place under roof
• Maximum humidity 80 %
• Temperature range -20 °C to +60 °C
The machine should operate under the following en-
vironmental conditions:

Setting up
Prepare the work place where the machine is to
stand. Create sufficient space in order to allow safe
working without disturbance.
The machine has been designed for working on a
level surface. It must therefore be set up in a stable
position on firm ground.
Assembly
For reasons of packing, your Scheppach log splitter
is not completely assembled.
Fitting the operating arms, Fig. 4
• Lubricate the slide plate (A) slightly.
• Insert the operating arm (B) with the opening in
the transverse link.
• Insert the hexagon screw M 8 x 30 (D) from above,
tighten with washer and lock nut from below, so
that operating parts remain moveable.
Mount the safety bar on the operating arm fig. 4.1
Screw down the safety bar with two Phillips' head
screws, two washers and 2 stop nuts on both operat-
ing arms.
Mount the rubber stopper fig 4.2
Mount the rubber stopper on both operating arms
with a retaining plate, 2 carriage plates M 8x35, 2
washers 8 mm and 2 safety nuts M8.
Mounting the running wheels, Fig. 5
• Put the wheel axle (1) through the drilled holes.
• Attach a washer, a running wheel (2) and another
washer (3) on either side.
• Attach the protection cap (4) by pressing it slightly.

Lower splitting knife position about 10 cm above ta-
ble.
• Move splitting knife to the desired position
• Release one operating arm
• Switch motor off
• Release the second operating arm
• Release the locking screw A

• Push the stroke set rod B to the top until it is
stopped
• Retighten the locking screw A
• Switch motor on
• Check upper position
Template for small wood up to 59 cm. Fig 7.1
Threat the template A through the brackets and snap
it in.
Secure the template with the Tommy screws (2).
Swivelling platform for short logs up to 88 cm.

To split short logs up to 88 cm, the lower splitting
platform B must be swivelled into the working posi-
tion and secured with the lock up hook (3).

To split logs up to 135 cm, both splitting platforms are
swivelled outwards.
Attention! Do not lift at the splitting platform for
transportation.
Functional test
Test the function before every use.
Action: Result:

ter "Maintenance".
Splitting
• Place the log on the table, hold it with both han-
dles, press the handles down. As soon as the
splitting knife enters the wood, push the handles
down and to the outside at the same time. This
prevents the wood from putting pressure on the
holder plates.
• Only split straight cut logs.
• Split the logs in vertical position.
• Never split in horizontal position or across.
• Wear protective gloves when splitting.
Rational working method
• Upper position approx. 5 cm above log.
• Lower position approx. 10 cm above table.

Putting into operation

Make sure the machine is completely and expertly
assembled. Check before every use:
• The connection cables for any defective spots
(cracks, cuts etc.).
• The machine for any possible damage.
