Testing
4.1
Pressure buildup – Testing with a
pressure sensor module
!
The ignition must be switched off before the pres-
sure sensor module (fig. 12, item 1) is connected or
disconnected.
4.1.1
Connecting the pressure sensor
module to common rail high-pressure
pumps witha high-pressure connection
(e.g. Bosch CP 1, CP 3 and CP 4.1)
Abb. 13:
Example of connecting to a CP 1 common rail high-pressure
pump
1 Digital pressure display unit
2 Pressure sensor module
3 60 MPa hose assembly
1. Use a commercially available cold cleaner to clean
the common rail high-pressure pump completely and
then blow it dry with compressed air.
2. Disconnect the system high-pressure hose assembly
from the injection pump and rail.
!
Ensure that no test oil spills onto the radiator hoses
and drive belt during installation. The radiator hoses
and drive belt are not resistant to the test oil.
3. Seal the hole in the rail with a protective cap (see
spare parts list for Bosch ESI[tronic]).
4. Using the appropriate connection adapter, angle, nut
and compression ring (left-hand thread), connect the
60 MPa hose assembly (fig. 13, item 3) to the com-
mon rail high-pressure pump.

5. Connect the hose assembly to the pressure sensor
module (fig. 13, item 2).
6. Tighten all threaded connections. When tightening,
use a second hex key to keep the hose fitting on the
pressure sensor module from turning.
7. Attach the connecting cable to the digital pressure
display unit (fig. 13, item 1) and rail pressure sensor
of the pressure sensor module (fig. 13, item 2).
8. Press the power key on the digital pressure display
for about 1 second.
