OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

3.5.7.5
Sweep
The sweep parameters to be entered are selected with the ~ ►MOD PARAMETER keys. Num-
bers 1, 2, 5 and 0 only are permitted for entering the sweep frequency and sweep width. The
value is rounded up to the next valid one. When the sweep width is entered, the units are selected
by means of the kHz/MHz key as with the RF frequency. During sweeping, the center frequency,
the sweep frequency and sweep width can be changed by means of the rotary knob if it is allo-
cated to the appropriate display field (VERNIER ON).
If internal amplitude modulation (AM) is also activated, the AM parameters can be shown in the
display again by pressing one of the MOD PARAMETER keys several times. Afterwards, the
parameters can be changed by entering values or by means of the '+O' '—~' step keys. After
ENTER the last parameters entered remain in the display.
The output signal is switched off during internal settling time of the sweep oscillator. RF OFF and
SET appear in the display.
The sweep frequency is generated by a separate oscillator (technical data see chapter 4). This
oscillator is also active when the modulation has been switched off (key OFF/ON). The instru-
ment returns to normal frequency generation when leaving the sweep mode by pressing the
keys MODULATION.

The stereo mode required is selected using the MODULATION keys and shown by the display
flashing (see Section 3.5.7.1). The internal sound modulation is set using the MOD PARAMETER
keys followed by input of digits via keyboard respectively via rotary knob in VERNIER ON mode.
The stereo signal appears as a modulated carrier signal at RF OUT and as a multiplexed signal at
the MPX output at the rear panel.
Stereo modulation combined with RDS, see Section 3.5.7.7 RDS.
Some special functions are provided for the stereo mode. The pilot can be switched on/off by the
key SPECIAL and two digits. The preemphasis may also be changed.
The special functions selected are executed by pressing the ENTER key.
