3) Thread the protector into the foot cuff (see fig. 1).
4) Put the protector over the knee joint and apply it.
INFORMATION: The retainers of the protector (at the side in the upper closure area)
have to engage on the frame element of the knee joint (see fig. 2).
5) Squeeze the protector together with both hands.
6) Fasten the upper closure (see fig. 3).
7) Fasten the lengthwise closure by sliding it in (see fig. 4).

Charging the C-Leg batteries with the protector installed
It may be difficult for the prosthesis user to open the charging receptacle cover through the
recess in the lengthwise closure with his/her fingers. In this case, the battery charger plug may
be used to pry open the cover.
6.2 Removing the Protector
1) Pull down the textile material of the foot cuff until the protector is exposed.
2) Open or remove the closures.
3) Spread open the protector and remove it from the knee joint.
4) Fasten the two closures after removing the protector.
6.3 Installing and removing the shield insert
► Slide the shield insert into the recess of the applied protective cover from the front and let it
engage (see fig. 5).
NOTICE
Loss of stability due to inadequately installed protective cover main unit
No hold of the shield insert on the protective cover.
► Ensure that the protective cover has been installed properly and that all closures are
fastened.
► By opening the closures and removing the protector from the knee joint, the shield insert
loses its hold and can be removed.
7 Maintenance
► During the standard inspection of the prosthesis components, also inspect the product.

7.1 Cleaning and Care

Improper product care
Damage to the product due to the use of incorrect cleaning agents.
► Only clean the product with a damp cloth and mild soap (e.g. 453H10=1 Ottobock Der­
maClean).
1) Clean the product with a damp, soft cloth.
2) Dry the product with a soft cloth.
3) Allow to air dry in order to remove residual moisture.
