Alignment and Adjustment of the Prosthesis
Alignment and Adjustment of the Prosthesis
 CAUTION
Non-active safety mode. If safety mode can no longer be activated, there is a risk that the patient will fall.
If the 3B1/3B1=ST Knee Joint can no longer be set to safety mode (e.g. in the event of a short circuit due to wa-
ter entry), the 3B1/3B1=ST Knee Joint may have to be actively secured upon heel impact using the residual limb
musculature until reaching a prosthetist or replacing the prosthesis. In this case, the prosthetist must be contacted
promptly.
 CAUTION
Charging the product with damaged power supply unit/charger/charger cable. Falling due to unexpected be-
haviour of the product caused by insufficient charging.
Check the power supply unit, charger and charger cable for damage before use.
Replace any damaged power supply unit, charger or charger cable.
 CAUTION
Risk of pinching in the joint flexion area. Injuries due to pinching of body parts.
Ensure that fingers and other body parts are not in this area when bending the joint.
INFORMATION
When using exoprosthetic knee joints, servomotor, hydraulic, pneumatic or brake load dependent control functions
can cause movement noise. This kind of noise is normal and inevitable. It generally does not cause any problems.
If movement noise increases noticeably during the lifecycle of the the knee joint, the knee joint should be inspected
by a prosthetist immediately.
2  Alignment and Adjustment of the Prosthesis
2.1  Charging the 3B1/ 3B1=ST Knee Joint
 CAUTION
Charging the prosthesis without taking it off. During charging of the prosthesis, the damping characteristics of
the knee joint change because the adjustable safety mode is activated. In certain situations, this can cause the user
to fall.
For safety reasons, take the prosthesis off before charging the battery.
INFORMATION
Advise the patient of the information in this section.
INFORMATION
Charging the knee completely before using it for the first time is strongly recommended.
INFORMATION
The Li-Ion battery may only be charged at temperatures over 0 °C (32 °F).
Fully charging the Li-Ion battery in the knee joint takes approximately 6 - 8 hours. The better the connection between
the charger and receiver on the knee joint (e.g. not interrupted by a sock), the shorter the charging time.
