1. Connect the power cord to the charger with correct polarity (Fig. 1).
2. Start the inductive charging process by connecting the charger to the receiver on the back of the knee joint. The
charger is held in place by a magnet (Fig. 2a / 2b). Verify the battery charge level using the LEDs on the side (Fig.
3) and the charging process based on the colour of the illuminated ring (Fig. 2b) (see tables below).
3. End the inductive charging process by disconnecting the charger from the receiver. The 3B1/3B1=ST Knee Joint
performs a self-test and is then ready for operation when the 2R20/2R21 AXON Tube Adapter is connected. This
is indicated via a single vibration and beep signal. If this is not the case, an error has occurred. In that case please
send the knee joint to the prosthetist or authorised Ottobock Service Centre.
INFORMATION
Do not move the knee joint while it conducts the self-test immediately after disconnecting the charger. Otherwise, an
error may occur; if this happens, the problem can be corrected by reconnecting and then disconnecting the charger.
INFORMATION
Charging is not possible if the distance between the transmitter and receiver is greater than 2 mm. However, char-
ging should proceed normally if, for example, a sock or SuperSkin is between the transmitter and receiver of the
charger (also see the Charging Process table).

* This display turns off automatically after approximately one minute to avoid bothersome light at night. The charging
process is not affected.
The battery charge level of the knee joint is also shown on the display of the remote control.
In addition, the remaining operating time is indicated to the patient by knee joint vibration signals once the remaining
battery charge level reaches approximately 25% (see table below).
