Metamerism warning

The Metameric Index (MI) - DIN 6172 describes the
dependency of the colour difference (ΔE) from the
illumination source. This means the colour difference
of two objects may look the same in daylight but look
different when illuminated with a different light source
such as fluorescent light, when the Metameric Index value
is high. This warning limit warns when the metamerism
index is over the variable limit. The MI is calculated on the
difference between D65 / A and D65 / F11. The warning
is displayed in the PASS/FAIL window, with a "FAIL MI!"
message. This message means the sample would normally
be within the set PASS/FAIL limits and only the MI limit is
reached.
6.1.10

Standard deviation warning limit

When using multiple scans
standard]
the standard deviation is calculated after each
scan. The limit can be used to warn the user that the
last scan has a high difference to the value or values
previously scanned.
When the warning message is displayed the user can
repeat the last scan by pressing the "Escape key"
The setting of the warning limit should be dependent on
the homogeneity of the sample.

Autosave

The function automatically saves the sample with the
last name used. If this name had a number as the
last character then this number will be automatically
incremented. To change the sample name switch
the function off and enter new name as described in
chapter 5.6.

W-LAN activated

The sph xs1 has a hardware option to enable the
communication to a database via a wireless network.
When the hardware is installed on the device,
network settings can be entered here. The connection
to a network makes the device extremely mobile.
Standards can be downloaded and sample values
stored for example direct at the production line.

Best Match

The measured sample is automatically compared to
the nearest colour standard stored on the device. The
following PASS/FAIL window is displayed:
.
The closest standard found
within a defined folder on the
device is used to calcu-late
the colour differences. The
selected standard is displayed
