In addition, with the distance of the laser increasing, the intensity of radiation distinctly decreases.
In proper working area and when correctly applied as per Operating Instructions, generally, the
limit values fall below that of laser class 1 (according to DIN 60825), i.e. this laser is not dan
gerous. Radiation to skin and eyes causes no damages. Special precautions are not required
(Laser class 2)

Measurements (folded)
The L.A.S.A.R.Posture conforms to the latest and most stringent standards. It was tested regar
ding electromagnetic compatibility (EMV), laser safety, electrical security, and is in conformity with
the CE standards. (The declaration of conformity is available upon request).

4 Starting Operation

The device should be used in a dry room at normal temperature
and under average conditions of light, so that the projected laser
beam is easily seen.
The L.A.S.A.R. device must be placed horizontal and on even
surface. Release the lock of the force sensing plate (Fig.1) and
swing it open.
Check voltage of the line to see whether it complies with that of
the apparatus.
In case of conformity, connect mains plug to the wall socket and
mains cable to the apparatus.
Connect control and display unit by the cable to the apparatus (Fig. 2).
Turn on the mains switch in order to start the apparatus.
The force sensing plate must be without any load, as L.A.S.A.R.Posture selfcalibrates once it
has been switched on. At the end of the calibrating procedure the laser should point to the center
of the force sensing plate (Fig. 7).
After selfcalibration the apparatus is ready for measuring.
If the force sensing plate is unloaded, the laser will switch off automatically after a few se
conds.
However, if the force sensing plate is loaded again, the laser will automatically turn on and auto
matically check the laser position.
The positional deviation of the laser is maximally 1 mm.
5 Field of Application and Measuring Technique
The demand for an adequate, objective measurement system for improvement of prosthetic fitting,
can, in the practice of static assessment, only be fulfilled by the L.A.S.A.R. Posture:
• Check the posture of the patient (Fig. 4)
• Measure the distances of ground reaction force to different points, such as the joint axes.
• Check and optimize static alignment of prostheses and orthoses.
