Automatic log calibration (autoCal)
Automatic log calibration of the LOGIC log is made during a measuring
run over a known distance between two points.
Mark two characteristic points on the map. The distance defined bet-
ween these points is the measuring distance. The LOGIC log measures
the distance covered during the measuring run. The difference between
measured and actual distance is used for automatic determination of the
calibration factor F, which is stored.
In flowing water the mesuring run must be made in both directions to
compensate the flow velocity effect.
Select the adequate speed unit (knots, M/h or km/h) for the area before
starting the run. Make the run with a speed as constant as possible at
cruising speed.
Measuring distance:
The following example 1 refers to a measuring run in non-flowing water,
the measuring distance being 1.00 nm.
Example 1:
Set the distance read in the map by hitting "CLEAR" key (the distance is
1.00 nm in this example).
