Change your working position at regular intervals to prevent
♦
one-sided fatigue.
If the cutting head is blocked, switch off the tool immedi-
♦
ately, remove the batteries and then remove the blockage.
10.3. Working with the strimmer
ATTENTION!
When using the strimmer (23), the guard exten-
■
sion (12b) must be extended. (see section: "Guard exten-
sion (Fig. Q)").
Position the tool on small lawns at an angle of approx. 30°
♦
and swivel the cutting head evenly to the right and left in a
semi-circular motion.
The best results are achieved when the grass is no longer
♦
than 15 cm. For taller grass, we advise carrying out several
mowing passes.
To mow around trees, fence posts or other obstacles, drive
♦
slowly around the obstacle and cut with the tips of the line.
Avoid contact with solid obstacles (stones, walls, picket
♦
fences, etc.) as the line would otherwise wear out quickly.
Use the edge of the protective cover (12) to keep the tool
at the correct distance.
ATTENTION!
Do not place the cutting head on the ground during
►
operation!
10.4. Lengthening the line
CAUTION!
Line remnants can come loose and be thrown away. This
►
can lead to injuries.
To lengthen the line, tap the strimmer (23) a few times on
♦
a grassy area while the tool is in operation and the motor is
running.
The line is automatically extended. The line cutter (33)
♦
cuts the line to the appropriate length.
If the line cannot be extended, proceed as follows:
♦
1) Switch off the tool and remove the batteries from the de-
vice.
2) Press the rotary knob (22) downwards and pull firmly on
the line end.
If no more line is visible, replace the strimmer (23) or
♦
wind on a new line as described in section 11.3 Changing
the spool.
10.5. Working with the 3-tooth blade
WARNING!
Always use the carrying harness (52) when working and
►
wear suitable work clothing.
Wear eye, ear and head protection.
►
Make sure that the 3-tooth blade (20) is properly
►
attached.
Replace damaged or blunt cutting tools.
►
Note
When using the 3-tooth blade (20), the guard exten-
►
sion (12b) must be retracted.
Only process clear and flat surfaces with the 3-tooth blade.
■
Carefully inspect the area to be cut and remove any foreign
objects. Avoid hitting stones, metal or other obstacles. The
blade can be damaged and there is a risk of kickback.
Do not use the 3-tooth blade to cut undergrowth or uncon-
■
trolled growth.
Check the 3-tooth blade regularly for damage and replace it
■
if necessary.
Swing the tool back and forth in a scythe-like mowing mo-
■
tion.
Hold the cutting head parallel to the ground and set the
■
cutting height.
We recommend the following speed setting:
♦
Level 1: Undergrowth/shrubbery
–
Level 2: Grass/lawns
–
10.6. Working with the hedge trimmer
Cutting techniques
The double-sided cutter bar (75) allows cutting in both
■
directions or by using swinging movements from one side to
the other.
For a vertical cut, move the hedge trimmer evenly forwards
■
or up and down in an arc.
For a horizontal cut, move the hedge trimmer in a scything
■
motion along the edge of the hedge so that cut branches
fall to the ground.
