Operating the engine without the filter element in
place can cause engine damage.
- Never run the engine without the air filter element
in place.
Fouled air filters diminish the engine output due to
reduced air supply to the carburettor. Regular inspec-
tion is therefore essential.
The air filter should be checked every 10 operating
hours and cleaned as required. The air filter (26c)
must be checked more often in case of very dusty air.
1. Open the bonnet (6) by lifting it forward.
2. Completely loosen the two wing screws (26a) and
remove the air filter cover (26).
3. Remove the filter cartridge (26b) upwards from
the threaded bolts.
4. Remove the air filter (26c) from the filter cartridge
(26b).
5. Clean the air filter (26c) by washing it out with a
mild cleaning agent.
6. Clean the paper filter (26d) by tapping it and blow-
ing it with compressed air from the inside.
7. Allow the air filter (26c) to dry in the air and rein-
sert it into the filter cartridge (26b).
8. Replace a defective air filter (26c) or paper filter
(26d) with a new one.
9. Replace the filter cartridge (26b) onto the thread-
ed bolts and replace the air filter cover (26).
10. Refit the star screws (26a) to the air filter cover
(26).

Check the spark plug (27a) for contamination for the
first time after 10 operating hours and clean it with a
copper wire brush if necessary. Thereafter, replace
the spark plug (27a) every 50 operating hours if nec-

1. Open the bonnet (6) by lifting it forward.
2. Remove the spark plug connector (27) from the
spark plug (27a).
3. Clean the area around the spark plug (27a).
4. Remove the spark plug (27a). Use an installation
spanner (32).
5. Visually inspect the spark plug (27a). Remove any
deposits present using a copper wire brush.
6. Check the spark plug gap. Use a feeler gauge to
adjust the electrode gap to 0.6-0.7 mm.
7. Replace the spark plug (27a) and take care not to
tighten it excessively.
8. Then place the spark plug connector (27) on the
spark plug (27a).
