ROTOCLEAR C PRO
set to DHCP but no DHCP server is available in the
network. As soon as the statically preset IP
addresses are used, they are retained until the
restart.
The IP addresses are pre-configured and change-
able.
Connection with two networks
The control unit is equipped with two network
interfaces.
Figure 15
Both interfaces can be operated independently
of each other, each in one of the above configu-
rations. It is possible to connect the control unit to
two independent networks simultaneously. These
can be, i.e., the internal machine network and the
company network. Via the machine network, the
camera interface or the camera stream can be
integrated on the machine control; via the com-
pany network, remote access can be set up, for
example.
Connection via https
In order to use the https connection, this interface
must be configured accordingly. The following
options are available:
76
Use the pre-installed certificate
A certificate is pre-installed on the control unit,
which can be used for internal purposes. The IP
address (https://<IP>/) of the control unit can be
accessed via the browser, which opens the web
interface.
However, it should be noted that the browser
always displays a warning message when using the
pre-installed certificate, as this certificate cannot
be verified. This message cannot be prevented as
the pre-installed certificate cannot be interpreted
universally for every domain name. If the con-
nection is only established for internal purposes,
this message can be ignored. Depending on the
browser, further information may be displayed.
To verify the certificate, you must either create a
certificate yourself or purchase one.
Create a certificate yourself
If a self-created certificate should be used, the
host name must be entered in the local DNS
server (A record) and linked to the IP address of
the control unit.
In the next step, the certificate must be uploaded
to the control unit via the Rotoclear C Pro web
interface in the "Connections" menu point under
"Upload certificate".
If the "private key" of the certificate was protected
with a password, this must be entered in the
"Password (optional)" input field when uploading
the certificate.
Optionally, a certificate can also be created
directly in the web interface. To do this, the desired
host name must be entered in the "Connections"
OPERATING MANUAL
menu item under "Create certificate" and the cer-
tificate created. Then there is no need to upload
the certificate as described above.
Finally, the certificate must be installed on the end
device. If the certificate was created via the web
interface, it can be downloaded via the download
button or via the following link: http://<IP>/certifi-
cate/.
After that, the certificate must be imported into
the trusted root certificate authorities of the end
device. Administrator rights are required for this.
Under Windows, the Management Console (MMC)
with the snap-in "Certificates" must be used for
this. This is required so that the authenticity of the
certificate can be validated when the connection
is established.
Now the host name of the control unit can be
accessed via the browser, which opens the web
interface.
Purchase a certificate
If a certificate from an official certification author-
ity is used, this must be uploaded to the control
unit via the Rotoclear C Pro web interface in the
"Connections" menu item under "Upload certifi-
cate".
If the "private key" of the certificate was protected
with a password, this must be entered in the
"Password (optional)" input field when uploading
the certificate.
Now the host name of the control unit can be
accessed via the browser, which opens the web
interface. The authenticity of the certificate is val-
idated when the connection is established via the
official certification authority.
77
This is only possible if the internally used domain
has a public top-level domain (e.g. .de, .com,
etc.). Furthermore, a certificate request (CSR) is
required for this, which cannot be generated via
the control unit. This must be generated exter-
nally and transmitted to the certification authority
(e.g. via OpenSSL).
HDMI or DisplayPort
Figure 16
An additional input option is required for use via
HDMI or DisplayPort. Connect a mouse (Fig. 16,
solid line) or a monitor with touch functionality
(Fig. 16, dashed line) to the Control unit via USB.
(Fig. 1-D1).
Only connect monitors when switched off.
Integration into external systems
RTSP stream
If you want to integrate the camera stream into
an existing surveillance system, i.e., you can use
the RTSP protocol. Consult the operating instruc-
tions or the manufacturer of the system to find out
whether your system supports the protocol and
the transferable resolutions and frame rates and
how the camera stream can be integrated.
