17 Designated Use
Intended use is considered to be as follows:

The M2Smart HMI Case is used for wired machine operation and monitoring.
The intended use of the M2Smart
of machines, such as:

Machine tools

Automated guided vehicles (AGVs)

Test stands

Robots

Vending machines
Operation in the normal modes (e.g. automatic mode) as well as in semi-automatic or manual special
modes, such as:

Teaching

Test run or setup
An enabling switch and an Emergency Stop are available as safety functions.
Emergency Stop and the enabling switch are designed with two channels and enable implementation of the
following Performance Level:

Category 4 PLe according to EN ISO 13849-1
This must be seen in the light of the actuation cycles with regard to the B10d values of the safety
components.
The machine manufacturer is responsible for selecting a handheld operating device suitable for the machine
and for the project planning of the possible additional options based on the legally required hazard and risk
assessment.
The manufacturer of a machine is obliged to carry out a risk assessment of the machine. The risk
assessment consists of a hazard analysis and a risk evaluation. The machine must be analyzed in all
phases of its life and in all modes of operation, and all possible hazards that may occur must be
documented. This is done without taking into account any protective devices.
Unintended use is considered to be:

Any modification made to the device or the use of damaged devices

The use of the device outside the technical scope described in this operating and project
engineering manual or outside the specified technical data
