Starting the X-node

As described in Section 4.2 Assembly and commissioning, the X-
node is in operation as soon as the battery has been charged and a
sensor inserted. Removing the sensor will terminate the existing
Bluetooth connection. The X-node will then switch to standby mode,
which will transmit battery voltage and environmental data via LoRa
just a few times a day. The X-node only restarts and switches to an
active state once a sensor is reinserted (status LED briefly flashes
green, red, blue).

The X-node then starts the gas measurement. If LoRa connections
have already been configured, the X-node will try to establish a
connection with the configured LoRaWAN provider directly after the
restart.
Without any sensor inserted, the X-node will not send any
Bluetooth advertisements and can therefore not be found in the app.
Even without any sensor inserted, the X-node remains active in the
LoRa network and reports its battery status and the environmental
data at longer intervals. This state leads to a very slow discharge
(> 2 years).

The status LED emits blue, green, yellow and red signals. The
various operating modes and the functionalities they include are

When the X-node is (re)started, the device will perform several
data
self-tests. A brief flashing of blue-red-green signals a successful
test.
– Visualisation of the gas concentration
The X-node constantly checks the range within which the gas
concentration currently being measured is found. With CO
(carbon dioxide), a measurement will only be carried out shortly
before the display interval set; measurements are carried out on a
second by second basis for other gases. There are two threshold
values here:
– A1: Pre-alarm
– A2: Main alarm
Standard values for these thresholds are stored in the sensor for
every sensor. Individual thresholds can be defined using the app
(see "Setting the alarm limits", page 63).
