8.6 Backup Indifferent Electrode Interconnect
A interconnect assembly is provided that allows the temporary connection of a
surface indifferent electrode. With redundancy in all other components, this
assembly provides redundancy for the implanted anode. In case of a malfunction
with the implanted anode, breakage or extraction, this component can be used to
replace that function and thereby allow continued therapy without the need for
immediate re-insertion of an implanted anode. The availability of a backup
indifferent electrode minimizes the interruption of stimulation.
