out any need for complicated cabling. It can also connect them to additional
modules or backplanes via two additional FireWire sockets. The FireWire inter­
faces of the individual modules are actively connected to each other.

The CX27 Gateway has two Ethernet interfaces and one fieldbus interface (IN/
OUT) for a network connection. The Ethernet interfaces on the front and back
of the module are equivalent, and are implemented as RJ45 sockets.
The Ethernet interface on the front of the module is intended for measuring and
maintenance purposes and is ideally suited for use of the module in a
backplane.
The Ethernet interface on the back of the module can be used decentrally in
distributed operation.
Measurement tasks: central interface for all connected modules and their mea­
sured values.
Maintenance tasks: central interface for all connected modules for diagnosis or
updates.
