General
The CX27 QuantumX module is a so-called gateway. A gateway is used so
that networks based on completely different protocols can communicate with
each other.
Thus the main task of the CX27 Ethernet/EtherCAT gateway is to receive and
forward data from the modules connected via FireWire.

Data is transmitted via the FireWire connections and the module is synchro
nized for time and supplied with the optimum voltage. Data transmission is
asynchronous (all nodes) or isochronous (to a specific node, e.g. CX27).
You can connect a total of twelve modules with each other in series via
FireWire.
The connection to the modules can be designed either with suitable FireWire
connection cables (1‐KAB272‐x) or via the BPX backplane. The backplane
connects up to five (BPX003) or nine (BPX001) modules with each other with
