Troubleshooting
Endodontic file progression indication is unstable or frozen.
Possible causes
• LEDs damaged or not working properly.
• Electronic malfunction.
Endodontic file progression indication is too sensitive (i.e. it displays the relevant position
for working length determination too quickly).
Possible causes
• Short-circuit due to excess fluid in the pulp
chamber (rinsing solution, saliva, blood).
• Direct contact between endodontic file and
gingiva / gingival proliferation (i.e. in cases
with fractured metal crowns).
• Direct contact between endodontic file and
metal restoration work (crowns, parapulpal
pins; amalgam fillings).
• Lateral root canal.
• Immature canal with large apex.

Solutions
• Perform a factory reset.
• Contact Dentsply Sirona Endodontics

Solutions
• Dry the access cavity using an air blower
or a cotton ball. In case of excess bleeding
wait until it has stopped.
• If heavy bleeding is observed, wait until
bleeding has been successfully stopped.
• For isolation:
- Adequate tooth build-up;
- Crown lengthening;
- Electro-cauterisation.
• Use a dental dam. Isolate the endodontic
file by placing 2-3 silicone stoppers on it or
insert the endodontic file in a small
polyvinyl tube before use.
• Use the protective X-Smart IQ
