19. TEST SEQUENCES
Check the telephone line
▸
Pick up the machine room phone and wait for
the dial tone.
▸
Dial "0" and wait for a new dial tone.
▸
Call another telephone and make a normal
call.
▸
Hang up the machine room phone to end the
call.
If any of these steps are unsuccessful, the prob-
lem may not be with the dialling unit, but with
incorrect wiring or a faulty or missing telephone
line.
Noise test
▸
Pick up the machine room phone and wait for
the dial tone.
▸
Dial "0" and wait for a new dial tone.
▸
Enter a number on the keyboard.
▸
The dial tone will stop and you will not hear
any sound.
▸
If you hear a noise or a humming sound, the
problem may be caused by induction in the
telephone line.
▸
Hang up the machine room phone to end the
call.
According to the regulations of the tele-
phone companies, the telephone line must
be installed in a separate line. Change the
cable routing by laying the cable in a different
position, or find an interference-free wire pair,
or use a shielded wire pair if available. If none
of these solutions is successful, you will need to
install a separate line for the telephone line.
Microphone test
Call the dialling unit and enter the following
numbers into the calling telephone.

Press "7" to activate the cabin microphone.
▸
Press "*" to activate the caller's microphone.
▸
Press "4" to automatically switch micro-
phones.
If you can communicate via the microphones,
the hardware is OK.
