5.5. Antenna mounting instructions

The antenna cable should not be coiled, kinked
or laid together with other cables. Although
the antenna cable is shielded, it should not be
routed directly past sources of interference (flu-
orescent tubes, power sockets, transformers,
motors or frequency converters), as these can
have a disruptive effect on the transmission.
The antenna cable can be extended with
suitable SMA extensions, but please note that
each additional meter of cable leads to higher
signal attenuation. Even if you get a sufficient
reception level after extension, the transmis-
sion level may be affected too much. Therefore,
we recommend to do without an extension and,
if necessary, to change the mounting location of
the dialling unit in favor of a position with better
reception.

5.6. Activate the SIM card

The dialling unit can recognize the PIN code
only if the code is set to "1234", "0000", "1111"
or is disabled. With a different setting, it cannot
access the SIM card.
If the PIN code is deactivated, the SIM card can
be used in any Behnke GSM product. With a
"0000" or "1234" PIN code, all interface cards

Since the reception can also fluctuate depend-
ing on environmental influences, we recom-
mend always achieving at least a medium level
during installation in order to obtain sufficient
residual level in the event of negative influ-
ences.
Note that since both the gateways and the
dialling units with interface circuit boards
are intended for indoor use only, the offered
antennas with magnetic base are also intended
for indoor use only. If required (e.g. in the case
of highly shielding building material), outdoor
antennas (on request) can be used instead,
which are both weather-resistant and suitable
for outdoor use with fixed mounting on the
facade.

access the SIM card. If the PIN code is set to
"1111", the dialling unit will randomly change
and store the code. This security measure
causes the SIM card to work only in conjunction
with the selected dialling unit. Changing the PIN
code again is then only possible with the PUK
code.
