A beam of emitted light from the lamp (1) is faded out by a slit (2). After
passing (optionally) a filter (3) it is focussed by a concave mirror (4) on a
flat grating monochromator (5) to fade out the desired wavelength. The
beam is then splitted by a half transparent mirror (6). One part beam
delivers the reference signal (9) and the other after passing the flow cell
(7) delivers the measurement signal (8).
