Connecting other Instruments to the UV-Detector 2500

Using the remote control socket

Connections to the remote control socket

Fig. 20
Connecting other Instruments to the UV-Detector 2500
On the rear panel of the UV-Detector 2500 an electrical connector socket is
located (item 5 in Fig. 9 on page 10) which serves to send or receive
signals from other instruments. For example start signals from an injection
valve or an autosampler can be put to the START input. All voltages have
to be mounted between GROUND and the corresponding event.
Please avoid touching the electrical contacts of the socket lines.
Electrostatic discharges when touching the contacts could damage
the electronics of the device.
To operate the Detector via external control please change the setting in
the EXTERNAL CONTROL menu to analog (see page 14).
Two of the eight positions on the remote control socket are ground
connections one is for ERROR OUT and four serve as control connections.
1
Remote Control Connections
EXT λ
Control voltage signal for automatic wavelength selection
(maximum voltage: 10 V = 10 mV/nm that means 5 V
result in 500 nm).
GROUND 1
This connector is only for EXT λ.
+5V
Caution! This connection is not allowed to use. It
serves for service purposes only.
START
Short circuit to GROUND causes a program execution
(see Running a Program on page 21).
AUTOZERO
Short circuit to GROUND triggers an Autozero signal.
Measurement restarts after the signal is switched off.
LAMP OFF
Short circuit to GROUND means lamp OFF. Open input
means lamp ON.
ERROR OUT
Error signal remains active as long as an error will be
displayed e.g. the lamp does not start (error: 0V, no error:
+5V).
GROUND 2
This connector is for START, AUTOZERO, LAMP OFF
and ERROR OUT .
