3. Adjust the detector to:
time constant:
scan rate:
scan range:
4. Pull the holmium filter out of the optical path.
5. Perform a Scan-Autozero (Position the cursor on AZ in the SCAN
menu and press the ▲ key)
6. Move the filter into the optical path by pushing the filter holder.
7. Perform a scan manually (Position the cursor on go in the SCAN
menu and press the ▲ key)
8. Observe the display and determine the 3 characteristic maxima of the
holmium oxide spectrum. As shown in Fig. 24 they should be at about
361 nm, 446 nm, and 536 nm respectively.

9. Due to the larger bandwidth of the detector the following correction
values have to be added to the observed maxima.
at about 361 nm:
at about 446 nm:
at about 536 nm:
10. All corrected positions must be in agreement with the certificate of the
filter manufacturer. The allowable deviation must be less or equal to
+ 3 nm.
11. Record the result.
You also may record the spectrum using a plotter or software. However
also the software does not record the wavelength.
For routine checks of the instrument the KNAUER OQ documents can be
used. An automatic OQ procedure is integrated into KNAUER ChromGate
software (v.3.1 and higher).
Remove the power plug before opening. Please let the lamp cool
down for at least 15 minutes after switching it off.
Do not touch the glass of the lamp. Should you touch it accidentally,
clean it thoroughly with a lint free cloth and i-propanol.
