4.4. Changing or renewal of the primary drive gear on the clutch drum

The primary gear (pos. 11) is fixed on the clutch drum (pos. 14) with a hex. nut (pos. 18) The clutch
drum is also fitted with a mechanical overload clutch.
A professional exchange or renewal of the primary gear is only possible with the specific holding
device (ROTAX part no. 676 190). Proceed as follows:

To allow easier matching of primary and secondary gears please note: The sum of
Clamp holding device for primary gear in a vice. If no ROTAX holding device is
used, protect the primary gear with aluminium jaws from damage of teeth.
Insert primary gear (pos. 11) in holding device or clamp it in a vice.
Place copper thrust washer (pos. 13 - thickness 1 mm / 0,04 in.) on primary gear.
Fit clutch drum (pos. 14).
Place copper thrust washer (pos. 15 - thickness 3 mm / 0,12 in.) on collar of primary
gear.
