9.3.3 - Piping installation

- Install all piping properly, preventing mechanical damage,
- If installation takes place in areas where personnel transit is allowed, install the piping so that it does not get
in the way of transit, and make sure the pipes are connected with fittings that cannot be removed easily,
- Use fitting devices suitable for the weight of the piping, so that the entire weight is not supported by the
connections causing their breakage and detachment from the unit.

9.4 - Connections

9.4.1 - Connection of the unit to the plant

Install steel pipes compliant with EN 378-1 and 378-3.
- For connection operations by means of welding, in order to prevent leaks, weld accurately and carefully;
- avoid overheating during welding (danger of excessive resizing);
- use shielding gas during welding (avoid excessive fouling).
- Welding on pressurized components can cause fires or explosions;
- carry out welding only when the unit is drained and not pressurized;
- make sure that the loads and vibrations do not affect the unit.

9.4.2 - Mechanical connections

Mechanical connection of the unit is up to the installer.
The unit comes with fixing holes.
The installer must:
- determine the maximum possible loads (wind, snow, earthquake, traffic, etc.);
- determine the type of anchors and bolts to be used according to the loads applied, to the type and to the
material of the support and to the dimensions of unit fixing holes.
In order to mount the appliances one must observe the following warnings:
- The diameter of the fixing holes are the result of the manufacturer's statistic calculations; the fixing elements
must take into account the diameter of the holes.
- The fixing elements must be equipped with all suitable means to prevent loosening.

If the dimensions of the holes are not sufficient, it is forbidden to widen them without the
manufacturer's permission.

9.4.3 - Bracing

To improve the stability of the unit in the wind, one can use bracing. The choice and size of the bracing must be
determined by the installer.

Using braces can pose risks for the safety of operators that have not been assessed by the
manufacturer of the unit. It is up to the design engineer to carry out an accurate analysis of the
risks and determine the technical-organisational solutions to reduce them. Modine is fully
relieved from any accidents resulting from the use of braces.
