Blank DVDs
Your recorder can write two different types of blank DVD discs:
DVD-RW, DVD+RW: ReWritable discs (RW) can be written several times. They can also be played on other
DVD devices without prior finalisation.
DVD-R, DVD+R: Recordable discs can only be written once and cannot be played on other DVD devices
without prior finalisation. It is possible to delete a recording on a DVD±R disc but it can then not be
overwritten.

MP3 format

The MP3 format is a compression format used for audio data. The MP3 format was developed to
substantially reduce the size of audio data.
MP3 files can only be played if they have been saved with the file extension *.mp3. Unlike traditional audio
CDs, MP3 CDs can be subdivided into directories (folders, albums) and files (tracks, titles) – just like a data
CD on your computer.

About HDMI

Your DVD recorder has a HDMI (OUT) connection. HDMI ("High Definition Multimedia Interface") is the
only interface in the consumer entertainment electronics sector that can digitally transmit audio and video
data simultaneously. It can process all currently known picture and sound formats, including HDTV (High
Definition Television).
You can connect the DVD recorder to the television set with HDMI and DVI inputs (HDMI is downwards
compatible to DVI – "Digital Visual Interface"). You will also need a HDMI cable for connecting to a HDMI
input. If your television set has a DVI socket, you will also need an adapter (HDMI – DVI), which is also
available is specialist stores.
Please bear in mind that not all DVI devices are compatible with this DVD recorder. It can occur that the
picture is not displayed properly.
If you would like to connect a DVI device, a separate audio cable is required. This is not necessary for an
HDMI connection.
Resolutions
Choose a resolution mode supported by your television set, in order to enjoy a sharper, clearer picture.
The device connected must be compatible with the resolutions provided by the DVD recorder. Here are the
resolutions:
576p (720 x 576), progressive
720p (1280 x 720), progressive
1080i (1920 x 1080), interlaced
