3.3. Checking the oil level

Before starting up the generating set, always check the engine oil level: It must be between the minimum and
maximum marks on the dipstick.
If the generating set has just been running, let it cool down for at least 30 minutes before checking the oil level.
Important
Pull out the oil dipstick (fig. A - no. 2 & fig. B - no. 1) and wipe it clean.
Put the dipstick back in then pull it out again to check the oil level.
If the oil level is too low (below the minimum mark (fig. B - no. 3):
Remove the oil filler cap (fig. A - no. 3).
Slowly top up with recommended oil (see § Specifications) using a funnel, regularly checking the oil level with the dipstick.
When there is enough oil, replace the oil dipstick and the oil filler cap.
Wipe off any excess oil with a clean cloth and check for any leakage.
If the oil level is too high (above the maximum mark on the dipstick (fig. B - no. 2), drain off some oil to remove the excess (see
§ Renewing the engine oil).

3.4. Checking the fuel level

Danger
Check the fuel level on the fuel gauge (fig. A - no. 5). If the level on the fuel gauge is close to the letter "E" (Empty), fill up with fuel:
Remove the fuel tank cap (fig. A - no. 6).
Fill the tank using a funnel, taking care not to spill any fuel, until the level on the fuel gauge is up to the letter "F" (Full).
Only use clean, water-free fuel (SP95-E10 (unleaded 95 Octane – 10% ethanol) authorised – SP95-E15, -E20, -
E85 prohibited).
Do not overfill the tank (there should not be any fuel in the filler neck).
After filling, always make sure that the oil tank cap is seated properly and securely fastened.
If any fuel has been spilled, make sure that it has dried and that the fumes have dispersed before starting up the
Important
generating set.
Tighten the fuel tank cap.
3.5. Checking the air filter
Never use petrol or solvents with a low flash point to clean the air filter element (risk of fire or explosion).
Important
Loosen the nuts (fig. D - no. 1) of the air filter cover (fig. D - no. 2) and remove it.
Remove the filter elements (fig. D - no. 3 & 4).
Visually check their condition (no soiling, tear, clogging).
If necessary, clean or replace them (see § Cleaning the air filter).
Refit the filter elements then the air filter cover and tighten the air filter cover nuts.
Fill with fuel when the engine is off and according to the safety instructions (see § Filling
with fuel).
