7.3.6 Sync output:
In FM, the generator outputs a sync signal from the front panel "Sync" connector, which is square wave with
TTL level and 50% duty cycle, its frequency if equal to modulating frequency and its phase is referenced to
the phase of the modulating signal.
7.4 To set the frequency modulation (FM) (P 4050)
In FM, the frequency of the carrier is varied by the instantaneous voltage of the modulating waveform.
Follow the steps to set a FM waveform with 1MHz carrier frequency, 800 Hz modulating frequency and 10
kHz frequency deviation.
First, to set the sine waveform:
7.4.1 Press【Mod】key to enter the interface of modulating output and select modulating mode.
7.4.2 Press〖FM〗softkey to enter the interface of FM modulate and "FM by Sine" is displayed on the
upper-left of screen.
7.4.3 The current selected option is "carrier frequency"; use numeric keys or knob to set carrier frequency to
1 MHz.
7.4.4 Press〖Modu Freq〗softkey to select "modulate frequency" and set it to 800 Hz by using numeric keys
or knob.
7.4.5 Press〖FreqDevi〗softkey to select "modulate deviation" and set it to 10 kHz by using numeric keys or
knob.
After setting, generator outputs FM modulating waveform with the parameters.

7.5 Amplitude modulation (AM) PeakTech 4035
Pressing the key of (AM/FM) and selecting "Ampl Mod", the signal of amplitude modulation will be output
from the end of "output A".
7.5.1 Setting of carrier frequency:
Pressing the key of "AM/FM" and selecting "Carrie F", the carrier frequency will be changed to green. The
setting of carrier frequency can be carried by the number keys or adjusting of knob. For amplitude
modulation, the signal of channel A is taken as carrier signal and the carrier frequency is in fact the
frequency of channel A.
7.5.2 Setting of frequency modulation:
Pressing the key of "AM/FM" and selecting "FM Freq", the signal of frequency modulation will be changed
to green. The setting of frequency modulation can be carried by the number keys or adjusting of knob. For
amplitude modulation, the signal of channel B is taken as modulation signal and the modulation frequency is
in fact the frequency of channel B. Generally speaking, carrier frequency should be 10 times higher than
modulation frequency.
